Royal Arch Masons of Tennessee

Served as Worshipful Master of Sparta Lodge # 99 from 1894 – 1896. Companion Findlay acted as the first Royal Arch Captain of the Chapter according to the minute book. Companion Findlay and other well know masons of the day ie.. PGM, PGHP, Comstock constituted Mt. Olivet Chapter # 87 on Thursday Evening November 19, 1868. Companion Findlay was admitted as a member to Mt. Olivet upon affiliation on October 18, 1869. Companion Findlay was the founder of Findlay Methodist Episcopal Church South. The church today is known as Findlay United Methodist Church located in Sparta Tennessee. Dr. Findlay was the Sunday School Superintendent from 1899 to 1907. He had practiced medicine in the Sequatchie Valley before he moved to White county.
