Robert B. Taylor

Robert Bruce Taylor was born on April 17, 1925 in Washington County, Tennessee, the son of P.M. and Eliza Taylor. He was educated in both the Unicoi and Washington County school systems. He is a veteran of World War II, having served in the southwest Pacific. He is a Protestant.

On April 10, 1943, he was married to the former Virginia Tipton. They have two children: Susan Ann and Robert Allen. They have four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Brother Taylor was employed at Raytheon Missile System Division for thirty-two years and retired September, 1989 as a Mechanical Engineering Aid Technical.

Brother Taylor was raised in Arcana Lodge No. 489 on March 16, 1962 and served as Worshipful Master in 1964. He was exalted in Thomas E. Matson Chapter No. 131 on November 24, 1964 and served as High Priest in 1967. He received the Order of High Priesthood in March 1968. Companion Taylor was greeted in Holston Council No. 101 on November 9, 1962 and served as Illustrious Master in 1968. He received the Order of the Silver Trowel in March 1969. He transferred from Chapter 131 and Council 101 on December 8, 1987 to Erwin Chapter 164 and Unaka Council 120.

Sir Knight Taylor was knighted in Watauga Commandery No. 25 on May 9, 1973 and served as Commander in 1975. He was inducted into Tennessee Priory No. 15 Knights of the York Cross of Honor on April 14, 1976. He received the Knight Crusader of the Cross on September 12, 1987.

Brother Taylor is a member and Past President of the East Tennessee York Rite Association; a member of Northeast York Rite College, Tralee Council Knight Masons of the U.S.A.; a member of Knoxville Scottish Rite bodies and a charter member of Jericho Shrine. He is also a member of Limestone Chapter 262 OES where he served as Worthy Patron in 1983, 1987, and 1991.

Brother Taylor was elected Right Excellent Grand Captain of the Host on March 26, 1991 and has advanced each year, being elected Most Excellent Grand High Priest on March 22, 1994.
