James A Hafner

James A Hafner

Born in Charlotte, Tennessee on November 15, 1936, the son of John and Virginia Hafner. He was educated in the public schools of Dickson County, Tennessee. He is a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a Morse Intercept Operator with the Army Security Agency in Okinawa and Taiwan. He retired from Aladdin Industries in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 1, 1999 after 33 years service, where he held several management positions.

Jim is married to the former Sara Malone of Pulaski, Tennessee. They have two sons, Jerry and Billy, and three granddaughters and three grandsons.

Brother Hafner was raised a Master Mason on May 27, 1967 in McWhirtersville Lodge No. 375. He served as Worshipful Master in 1974 and has served for over 20 years as Trustee. He served as Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge in 1979.

Companion Hafner was exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Donelson Chapter No. 234 on June 27, 1967. He served as Excellent High Priest in 1976, 2001, and 2002 and received the Order of High Priesthood in March 1976. He served as a member of the Grand Chapter Ritual Committee from March 1984 until March 1994, serving as Chairman in 1993. During most
 of those years as a member of the Ritual Committee, he conducted the Chapter schools of instruction for the Middle Tennessee area. He served as Grand Royal Arch Captain of the Grand Chapter in 1999, and is presently Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of Argentina, near the Grand Chapter of Tennessee.

Companion Hafner was greeted in Nashville Council No. 1 on August 26, 1967, served as Illustrious Master in 1982, and received the Order of the Silver Trowel in March 1982. He is presently serving as Treasurer of Nashville Council. He served as Grand Instructor for District
 No. 2 in 2002 and 2003. He is presently serving as an officer for The Tennessee Council of Anointed Kings.

Sir Knight Hafner was knighted in Nashville Commandery No. 1 on September 9, 1967, served as Eminent Commander in 1983, and received the Knight Crusader of the Cross on April 24, 1987. He is presently serving as Treasurer of Nashville Commandery. He served as Grand Sentinel of the Grand Commandery in 2001.

Sir Knight Hafner is a member of Tennessee Priory No. 15 Knights of the York Cross of Honor; Life Member Middle Tennessee York Rite Association; an Officer of Middle Tennessee York Rite College No. 143, receiving the Order of Purple Cross in 2003; Royal Order of Scotland;
 an Officer of Old Hickory Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, an Officer of Arch E. McClanahan Council No. 358 Allied Masonic Degrees; Tennessee College Masonic Societas Rosiccuciana in Cibitatibus Foederatis; Tennessee Lodge of Research; Nashville Scottish Rite Bodies; Life  ember of Al Menah Shrine Temple, and Ezra Council No. 89, Knight Masons.

In the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Tennessee, Sir Knight Hafner was elected Eminent Grand Captain General on May 3, 2003. He has advanced each year, and was elected Right Eminent Grand Commander on May 6, 2006.
